Amaranthus tricolor illumination

I got bored with the usual selection of plants in all the garden and landscape shops, so I set out to look for uncommon plants for our garden. Amaranths are super easy to sprout from seed. They grow so fast too, and produce more seeds in just a few months. Tiny black seeds become this flashy, burst of gold, orange, magenta, and deep green foliage!

The colorful leaves remind me of Japanese paper and festive lanterns. I am using my Amaranths to create blocks of intense color among the greens and tiny spattering of flowers! Nice to look out from our verandas to a display of happy, vibrant colors.

Best of all, Amaranths love the sun! In our garden that has yet to grow trees, these babies get all the sun they need to get their extravagant colors!
